BeautyBlender - Blender Cleanser $17.95 / 6 fl oz
My BeautyBlender is at least 4 months old. Note that I don't apply makeup everyday, maybe twice a week. It's about time I throw out the old beautyblender, but with the VIB sale going on, I thought why not give the blender cleanser a try. It might do an amazing job of cleaning the blender, and I might be able to use it for a couple more months.
I just want to point out that I don't own any makeup brush cleanser. I mainly use dish washing detergent, shampoo, and extra virgin olive oil to clean my brushes and beautyblender. That being said, I expect a lot out of a cleanser designed for makeup cleansing purposes.
The blendercleanser comes in a hard/sturdy plastic bottle. The bottle is pretty tough, meaning you can't squeeze it. The cleansing liquid has a thick consistency. I found it difficult to squeeze the liquid onto the blender. I tipped the bottle over and try with all my might to squeeze the cleanser onto the blender sponge. It took a while, maybe 30 seconds. But I was impatient during the entire process.
The cleanser did not lather up like your typical cleanser (dish detergent and shampoo). This is probably for the best, because the sponge tends to soak up all the foam and it take a long time to properly remove all the soap foam.
Overall, the blendercleanser wasn't anything special. My dish detergent does the same job. Yes, it might take longer to remove all the foam trapped inside the sponge, but at $0.99 I can't complain. I'm going to return the beautycleanser. I believe it's a waste of money to spend $18 on a cleanser, when my dish detergent at $0.99 does the same job.
If you have a beautyblender, I recommend cleaning it with dish detergent. It does a good job of removing the makeup and disinfecting your sponge. I use the Dawn dishwashing liquid - orange color. The great thing about dish detergent is it is so versatile. You can almost clean anything with it. I use the Dawn - blue color to bathe my dog sometimes. Save yourself money and skip the Beautyblender-blendercleanser.
Left: brand new blender
Right: used blender, dirty, in need of cleaning
I gave the blender a quick water rinse before adding the cleansing agent.
This will help remove some of the top layer of foundation makeup.
I squeezed about 5-6 drops of the cleaner onto the blender.
Can you see the clear drop of water?
That's the cleanser.
