Guerlain Winter 2011 Nuit Collection

I love shopping. Sometimes I wonder if I'll be richer in money rather than materials if I didn't buy all of these junks. I keep telling myself richer in money is better than material, but my brain cannot communicate with my shopping eyes. Sadly, I make purachases even with this thought in mind. Shopping addiction. Sigh. If only they market a pill to cure shopping addiction. There is a shopping remedy, but it does not come in a pill form but human form. A HUSBAND.

My sister is marry, and she has to watch her spending because she feels guilty spending money while her husband, a down to earth guy who does not believe in materialist thing, does not shop. This does not mean she STOPPED shopping entirely, but rather she makes more informed buying decision, unlike myself, who buy and decides later if I really need it. I'll revisit my shopping addiction and my quest for a cure in another post, and concentrate on my impulsive buying and the lack thereof.

I am an impulsive buyer. However, I cannot claim that I impulsively bought my recent purchase. Have you ever past buying something up and live to regret it? Luckily, I did not live too long in the regretting state. Every year Guerlain releases their Holiday Collection-mainly comprising of limited edition items. For the last two years, I bought most Guerlain pieces that catch my fancy. Usually, the limited collection has some really glorious packaging and designs. Every collection includes blush, some sort of powder, meteorites, eye shadows, lip sticks, and lip gloss. I'm not much of an eye shadow experimenting person, so I do not buy the eye shadows. Last year, winter of 2011, Guerlain released the "Nuit" collection. I bought the Meteorites Perles de Nuit and the Parure de Nuit. I passed up the Vol de Nuit, which is a powder atomizer. The bottle at the time looked too masculine for my taste. My 2010 Winter atomizer looked so much fancier. I ended up buying only two pieces (the meteorites and blush) from the collection.

Recently, I came across pictures of the Vol de Nuit, and it got me thinking about it. I am a crazy Guerlain collector. All of a sudden I regretted not buying it. I immediately started roaming the internet for it. None of the department store had it anymore. I'm not surprise, winter is long gone, with summer on the horizon. All my desperate prayers was answered by Dillard's (a department store here in Houston). They still had the Vol de Nuit for sale on their website. However, shipping costs $8.50. Too much-when almost every retailers offer FREE shipping. I immediately called my local Dillard's Guerlain counter. The sweet sale lady said there were 2 left. OMG. I was so happy. She knew I was desperate for it and offered to do a purchase transaction over the phone. And whola! The Vol de Nuit was in my possession-not physically until I pick it up in person. The powder is scented with the 1933 Guerlain fragrance Vol de Nuit. This is the first time the powder is scented with something other than the signature Meteorites scent.

My previous purchase.

Every Guerlain compact comes in a velvet pouch. This year the pouch's lining matches the color of the collection: a greeny/winter green color.

The compact is glossy black. The Meteorite comes in a tin metal circular container with raised groove/indentations on the lid and the side.

I am a die hard fan of the Meteorites Perles. I must have every one or I'll die. If I can only collect one item, then it'll be the Meteorites Perles. The meteorites pearls are gorgeous. They not only look nice, but they smell phenomenally amazing. I wish Guerlain bottle this scent. The pearls comes in shades of pink, white, light shimmer gold, peach, and sparkly silver. Each color delivers a different effect. The different colors combines to give you a heavenly shimmer highlighted look. You twill your brush around the balls for an even coating of colors and apply it to your entire face or a specified area of your choice. I personally apply it all over my face for a brighter complexion.

The Parure de Nuit is a pressed powder and blush. The powder is compressed into a peacock feather like design. The colors consist of pale pink highlighter, red for blush, green (to counteract redness), and some silver shimmer. It also comes with a blush brush located underneath the powder pan. The powder has a Meteorite scent.
