Drug Store Lip Products

Yesterday a local grocery store near my house posted a sign announcing the store was closing and everything is 50% off. My mom and I made a trip hoping to look for cheap food deals. I however was more interested in the makeup.

Ever since I purchased the Revlon Lip Butter in January, I became obsess with drug store lip sticks. I never been much of a drug store makeup person. Lately, I wanted to buy most of the pink shades lipstick, yet I haven't bought any in a few months. Where did this self control come from you might ask. I love couponing. I get excited when I can score a good deal. Drug store makeup always offer coupons in the Sunday's newspaper. I have been holding out for a good sale where I can use my coupon to sweeten the deal even more.

The good deal finally came along. Sale makeup, check. Coupons in hand, check. I was really happy that I was able to use some of my coupons (mostly $1 off of a product) on the sale/clearance makeup products. I was afraid the cashier might denied me the use of coupon being that the store is closing.

What I purchased: (prices are before coupon and tax)

The three tube of CG lip gloss.
colors from left to right:
           535 Raspberry Splash
           520 Papaya Splash
           505 Guava Splash

Swatches:
left: 535 Raspberry Splash
center: 520 Papaya Splash
right: 505 Guava Splash

Each color had its own fruity scent. I am assuming  that each scent coordinates with the gloss name. The raspberry smells like raspberry. The papaya smells like papaya. The guava smells like guava. All three have a sweet taste. To me they all taste the same, so I'm not sure if they were meant to taste differently or not.

Cover Girl Outlast Double Lipshine
270 Candy apple
225 Megawatt Mauve

The gloss comes with the color gloss and a clear extra shiny white gloss.

These gloss are super lasting. I applied applied them to my arm and allowed them to completely dry. They did not come off at all. I tried using hand soap to scrub my arm, nothing came off.  The color was on my arm for least 24 hours. Eventually it faded. I can't wait to wear these color on my lips.

right: 275 Kiss

I like anything pink. The lip sticks apply on smoothly. the only thing I don't like about them is the bullet base is not very well made. You can see the cut where the lip stick was chopped off. It makes me feel like if I use too much force the bullet might break off.

Revlon Just Bitten
Victorian
Passion

These lip stains are quite pigmented. I applied them to my arm and immediately wiped them off and there was still a light residue left over. Each color comes with a clear lip balm that you can apply for a light glossy/lip balm look and feel.

All in all, I am satisfied with my purchase. Although I like all of the products, I don't think I'm going to purchase any additional colors. It seems like I have a lot to use before I need to add anymore to my collection. I did not swatch the Revlon clear lip gloss. It did not show up well in the picture. There is nothing exciting about it really. It's a clear lip gloss that can be worn by itself or on top of another color. I am planning to wear it on top of my lip stick that I want a glossy look.
